Action Alert: Call Your Senators TODAY and TOMORROW To Protect HOME Funds
Yesterday, the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee proposed to cut funding for the HOME Investment Partnerships program (HOME) by a staggering 93% from $900 million to just $66 million, all but eliminating the program.
HOME is a highly successful, locally-driven block grant program that helps fund down payment assistance for low-income homebuyers and provides gap financing to develop and preserve affordable rental housing. The program is exclusively focused on serving low-income families, with more than half of all funding directed to very and extremely low-income individuals. Moreover, HOME works in urban, suburban, and rural communities in all 50 states.
Amendments to restore funding for the HOME program may be offered at the Appropriations Committee markup tomorrow morning. We need your help to ensure that the HOME program is protected!
PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS TODAY AND TOMORROW!
(1) Tell your Senators why the HOME program is important to the work you do!
(2) Urge them to vote “YES” on any amendment to restore funding to the HOME program.
(3) Ask them to support raising the low spending caps that force Congress to cut successful, effective programs like HOME.
It is especially important to call your Senators if they serve on the Full Appropriations Committee. Our list of Senate Targets include:
|Senator||State||Staffer 1||Staffer 2|

Thank you for your advocacy.
