HUD has published three notices regarding assessment tools for Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH). The first announces that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved HUD’s request to renew the Assessment Tool that HUD developed for local governments that receive formula funding from HUD to use when they are conducting and submitting Assessments of Fair Housing. The second notice announces that the Assessment Tool for use by Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) has been approved by OMB after completing the comment process required by the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). While this tool has been approved, PHAs are not required to conduct and submit an Assessment of Fair Housing until HUD provides them data. The third notice provides interim guidance to assist program participants in carrying out their obligation to affirmatively further fair housing pending issuance of the final Assessment of Fair Housing Tool for States and Insular Areas.
