To support funding for housing and community development programs, OCAH is encouraging partners and advocates to urge their Members of Congress to sign Dear Colleague letters circulating in the House and Senate.
- Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) is sponsoring a Dear Colleague letter in the Senate supporting level funding for the Section 4 Capacity Building Program at $35 million for FY18. Senators’ offices can reach out to Carlos Arrendondo in Senator Donnelly’s office by COB Tuesday, April 4 to sign the letter.
- Representative Elizabeth Etsy (D-CT-5) is leading a Section 4 Dear Colleague letter in the House and will be accepting online submissions through April 4. Representatives’ offices can reach out to Matthew Colvin at firstname.lastname@example.org if they have any questions regarding the letter.
- Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) have initiated a letter in support of allocating $11.4 billion for Project-Based Rental Assistance in FY 18. The deadline to sign is April 5. Senate staff should contact Matthew Traylor at Matthew_Traylor@merkley.senate.gov or Meredith Booker at Meredith_Booker to sign their member onto the letter.
- Additionally, the deadline for the HOME Coalition national sign-on letter has been extended until April 7. The HOME Coalition welcomes organizations, municipalities and businesses to sign on to the letter and urge Congress to fund the HOME Program at $1.2 billion in FY 2018.
