HUD Secretary Ben Carson is continuing his nationwide “listening tour” to meet with housing and community development groups and the residents who live in properties supported by HUD programs. At a Habitat for Humanity site in Florida, Secretary Carson discussed the importance of public-private partnerships as a means of supporting vulnerable citizens. Secretary Carson’s recent remarks come at the same time that the Trump Administration has proposed dramatic cuts to housing and community development programs, which would harm millions of households that rely on federal housing programs in order afford housing. At a recent event hosted by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, Secretary Carson again solicited feedback on which HUD programs are working and which are not, expressing particular interested in the Rental Assistance Demonstration and Moving to Work public housing demonstration program.
