How Local Governments Can Raise Much-Needed Resources for Affordable Housing

Recently, Enterprise’s State & Local Policy team published a blog post summarizing policy tools available to cities and counties to raise local housing resources. The post explains how local governments across the country are using housing bonds, dedicated sales and property taxes, linkage fees, real estate transfer taxes, tax increment financing, real estate transfer taxes and short-term rental fees to support affordable housing initiatives. These local resources have arguably never been more important, as cities are being asked to address a growing problem with fewer federal resources.
