The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has released a new discussion paper exploring how to develop affordable housing in economically integrated, mixed-income communities with less government support. The authors interviewed housing stakeholders and discovered three major challenges to building mixed-income communities: land costs, the regulatory burden associated with affordable housing subsidies and the need to better coordinate agencies.
