President Trump announced his intent to nominate James Clinger, former top aide to the House Financial Services Committee, as the next chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). This nomination would be effective as of Nov. 29, 2017. Current FDIC chairman Martin Gruenberg’s term expires in November 2017. Clinger’s nomination requires Senate confirmation. President Trump has also announced his intent to nominate Anna Maria Farias to be assistant secretary of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at HUD. Farias is the chair of the Board of Regents at Texas Women’s University. She held various roles at HUD from 2001-2008 as senior counsel to former Secretary Martinez, deputy assistant secretary for special initiatives, deputy assistant secretary for grant programs and director of the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Farias also served as executive director of the Crystal City Housing Authority in Texas from 1993-2000.
