The legislative session in Washington state concluded earlier this month with a series of major victories for affordable housing. Among those are the Biennial Capital Budget, which provides more than $100 million to the Housing Trust Fund; HB 2578, which bans source of income discrimination; and HB 2382, which makes it easier to leverage surplus lands for public benefit. Additional legislation would increase funding for homeless services and remove barriers to providing housing for vulnerable populations. The bills have been sent to Governor Inslee’s desk for his signature.
