Senator Todd Young (R-IN) recently authored an op-ed for the Indianapolis Star on the need for increased public and private investment in affordable housing. Senator Young has been a leader in Congress on housing affordability issues this year, most recently introducing the Task Force on the Impact of the Affordable Housing Crisis Act of 2018 (S. 3231). In the article, Senator Young outlines the impact that the lack of affordable housing has on a variety of life outcomes, including health and education, and noted that affordable housing is a critical component of economic mobility. In May, the Senator also introduced the Housing Choice Voucher Mobility Demonstration Act (H.R. 5793), legislation that would allow voucher recipients more flexibility and greater access to neighborhoods of opportunity. Enterprise applauds Senator Young’s commitment to affordable housing, which also includes support for the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (S. 548), and looks forward to working with him to improve our nation’s housing delivery system.
