111 Members of Congress Send Letter to House Leadership Urging AHCIA Inclusion in Reconciliation

On August 25, Housing Credit champions Representatives Suzan DelBene (D-WA-01) and Don Beyer (D-VA-08), alongside 109 Democratic Members of Congress, sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi (D-CA-12) and House Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA-23), urging the inclusion of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) in the reconciliation legislation that is a part of the two-track infrastructure path in Congress.

This strong showing of support for Housing Credit among Members of Congress is timely, as the Senate and the House have now both passed a $3.5 trillion budget resolution, which provides Congressional committees instructions on spending and revenue topline figures to draft the detailed reconciliation legislation. There is currently a non-binding deadline of September 15 for the committees to submit their recommendations to Congressional leadership.

ACTION thanks these legislators for their call to swiftly enact the AHCIA as a critical step in addressing the severe, nationwide affordable housing shortage. We urge our members and supporters to share this letter widely as a part of the continued advocacy for the Housing Credit and the AHCIA. We also encourage members to review the signatories and reach out to thank their Representatives for their support if they signed the letter.
