On May 18, the HOME Coalition – a grassroots advocacy coalition of more than 40 organizations advocating for the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), including Enterprise – sent a letter to HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge in support of modernizing the program. The letter commends the Biden-Harris Administration’s Housing Supply Action Plan for supporting increased funding for HOME, along with reauthorization and guidance updates.
The HOME Coalition letter explains that while some updates to HOME require federal legislation, there is much that HUD can do under its regulatory authority to further strengthen the program, increase flexibility to address changing housing needs, improve operations, and allow states and localities to do more with their existing HOME resources, even absent statutory changes. The signatories also noted their commitment to working with HUD to successfully modernize HOME regulations and guidance.
