The Oklahoma Coalition for Affordable Housing is seeking nominations for candidates to serve on the 2024 Board of Directors.
Board Member Eligibility:
-Must be an Active/Voting member of the Coalition.
-Must be in good standing with membership dues paid in for 2023.

As members of the ACTION Campaign, we are asking you to assist ACTION by asking your local leaders to sign-on to this letter supporting the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA). The ACTION Campaign is seeking Mayors, state, county and local officials and other government entities that might influence the policy makers in Washington to support the AHCIA. We know you develop lasting relationships with thoughtful leaders concerned with the lack of affordable housing in their communities. This is an opportunity to have them send a strong message to Washington regarding the lack of affordable housing in their towns and cities. 

As you know, the AHCIA, S. 1557 and H.R. 3238, was introduced on May 11. The ACTION Campaign is partnering with the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and Mayors & CEOs for U.S. Housing Investment on a letter from local government leaders to leaders in Congress underscoring local elected leaders’ support of the AHCIA. Our goal is to show the strong support of mayors, county executives, and county board chairs from around the country for the expansion and strengthening of the Housing Credit.

·Please reach out and ask your local government leaders to sign on in support of the AHCIA of 2023. The deadline for signatures is September 7, 2023.

·A number of mayors signed a similar letter in 2021. Please be sure to mention to your mayor if they supported in the past.

·Share ACTION’s state and district factsheets on the Housing Credit impact locally with your local government leaders to make the case that they should weigh in with Congress by signing the letter.

On July 20, the Senate Appropriations Committee held a markup and approved its Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) fiscal year (FY) 2024 funding proposal. The measure would provide $98.931 billion for agencies under its jurisdiction, including $70.6 billion for HUD, $1.8 billion above the House proposal and $9.8 billion above the FY 23 enacted budget. 

The Senate provided a bipartisan proposal that makes minimal cuts and level funding or increases for many of Enterprise's Policy Priorities. Specifically, the HOME Investment Partnerships Program was spared from the significant cuts proposed in the House and received level funding compared to FY 23 at $1.5 billion. Other important programs such as the Community Development Block Grant and the Section 4 Capacity Building Program also received level funding at $3.3 billion and $42 million, respectively. Several key programs received increases, including the Native American Housing Block Grant, which received a $61 million (6%) increase at $1.1 billion, and the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, which received a $1.4 billion (5%) increase at $31.7 billion. The amounts for the HCV program would cover all renewals and will also provide 4,000 new incremental vouchers for youth aging out of foster care and veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness, according to the bill summary. 
 
Congress should enact legislation that provides strong funding for affordable housing and community development programs to meet the urgent need we’re seeing across the county.
